Temporary Road Closure
Hampshire County Council's Highways West office, have requested a temporary road closure at Newtown Road Minstead in order to carry out carriageway patching, surface dressing and any associated remedial works. The initial Statutory Notice will come into effect this Monday 9th August. The closure is likely to be required for a maximum total of six days, but will be implemented intermittently, as required, and between 0700hrs and 1600hrs only on any day that the closure is in place. The works programme is provisional and weather dependent. The first phase of the works (and closure) is currently planned for this Wednesday and Thursday 11th and 12th August. It is anticipated that all phases of the works will be completed by 30th November 2010. Information boards giving notice of the closure dates will be provided on site.
Village Fete 21st August
The Village Fete will take place on the Green on Saturday 21st August from 12 to 4 pm. There will be the usual range of tempting stalls, with proceeds going towards the new meeting and social area in the Church, as well as one for Help for Heroes at which the new book "Minstead at War 1914-1945" will be launched. All contributions for the bottle and tombola stalls will be gratefully received by Stewart and Pam at the Shop or Steve Cattell. There will also be a beer festival and hog roast at the Trusty. Keep an eye on noticeboards for further details.
MINSTEAD HISTORY GROUP - CAN YOU HELP?
Minstead's Local History Group is planning an exhibition of 'Minstead Past and Present' and is interested in hearing from anyone who remembers life in Minstead in former times. Or maybe you have photos, or information on houses and their occupants, or a family tree of your ancestors in Minstead?
If you can help we would love to hear from you - please contact Steve Catell on 023 8081 3574 or steve_cattell@hotmail.com
(With your permission, we would copy photos/documents and return them immediately.)
The exhibition 'Minstead Past and Present' will be in May 2011.
