HCC TRADING STANDARDS SERVICE

HCC Trading Standards Service aim is to raise awareness of the problems associated with doorstep callers.  It does this mainly through talks to older people's groups such as social clubs, WI, neighbourhood watch meetings, village meetings etc, anywhere where the message can be got across to home owners, particularly older adults or those who work with older people.  This message is to be watchful of rogue traders - cold callers offering to do property repairs or gardening, salespeople using intimidating and forceful sales techniques and those trying to gain entry using false ID.  The Trading Standards service also offers a free annual electric blanket testing service between 6th and 17th October.  More information is available by phone on 01962 833620 and on the HCC website under Trading Standards.  Local traders who have been vetted by Trading Standards can be found  on a dedicated government website

COMMUNITY FIRST NEW FOREST

Formed in 1988 Community First New Forest extended its operational area in the mid-nineties to include the whole New Forest district. Today, as Community First New Forest it provides the core functions of a Council for Voluntary Service. It also provides a number of services that seek to improve the quality of life for people and communities. Browse the cfnf website to find out how it may be able to help you.

ONE CALL FITS ALL

New Forest District Council is introducing pioneering changes to improve customer service in its health and leisure centres. Calls to all five centres across the district will be handled by one central low rate number, 0845 659 0845, after a changeover period beginning May 13. Applemore Health and Leisure are launching the process; with Totton, Ringwood, Lymington and New Milton following in June.
