HCC TRADING STANDARDS SERVICE
HCC Trading Standards Service aim is to raise awareness of the problems associated with doorstep callers. It does this mainly through talks to older people's groups such as social clubs, WI, neighbourhood watch meetings, village meetings etc, anywhere where the message can be got across to home owners, particularly older adults or those who work with older people. This message is to be watchful of rogue traders - cold callers offering to do property repairs or gardening, salespeople using intimidating and forceful sales techniques and those trying to gain entry using false ID. The Trading Standards service also offers a free annual electric blanket testing service between 6th and 17th October. More information is available by phone on 01962 833620 and on the HCC website under Trading Standards. Local traders who have been vetted by Trading Standards can be found on a dedicated government website
